Mythical Ports

The toughest mountain pass on the Costa Blanca combines two challenging climbs in a 20km route. From Sella, you first ascend Puerto de Tudons and then the Sierra de Aitana, reaching the roof of Alicante, the former site of a military base. The climb is constant, without breaks, and especially demanding in the last 10km.

The Sierra de Maigmó is a short but fearsome climb, with only 3.74 km, an average gradient of 13% and slopes exceeding 20%. Its toughness has made it famous among the international peloton and cycling fans.

One of the most famous, between the mountains of Ferrer and the Sierra del Carrascar, a 10 km route, does not have great slopes but its curves and landscapes will not leave you indifferent. It is a must for any cycle tourist visiting the area.

The Alto del Puig de la Llorença, known for its impossible slopes, is a classic of La Vuelta, with victories by cyclists such as Chris Froome and Tom Dumoulin. This demanding climb, which ends in a housing estate of the same name, is a must-stop for cycle tourists on the Costa Blanca, standing out for both its toughness and its impressive views.

This port, with a winding layout and no major slopes, is another of the must-see places in the area. It leads to Vall d’Ebo, in the Marina Alta of Alicante, and its difficulty decreases as you advance, allowing you to enjoy spectacular views in the final part.

This mountain pass, known for its steep slopes, gained prominence after being paved and being the final stage of the 2020 Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana, with an impressive victory for Tadej Pogacar. Located in Altea, a Cycling Friendly municipality, its average of 12% makes it a challenge that rivals or even surpasses the Xorret de Catí. It is an excellent option for cyclists looking to test themselves.
